Natalie and Harley: the mouse hunt

Yesterday started with a visit to both Hoover High campuses with Emily, JT, and Judy. We went to each lunch period to pass out invitations to the annual Campus Life Burger Bash.

Last night we had the annual Burger Bash with Campus Life Ministries. We meet every Monday (except when school is out) over off of 150 at the Langston Family's house. We had around 112 students come last night. There was a skit, a couple of games, burgers, chips, cookies, and of course a visit from Captain Unexpectedpants! We were very excited about the turn out and hope that it continues.

The girls went with us this week since it was a little more free flowing. They started off climbing all over the fence around the horse pasture. Then playing with a Frisbee, quickly changing to climbing on the large spools, and chasing each other. They had a blast! At one point Michael pointed out that there was a small field mouse running behind the guys that were grilling. The girls saw me looking at it and Natalie decides to catch it. She ran at it and snatched it up pretty quick. She didn't get her hands around it though and it jumped out of her hand and on to her forearm. She panicked, and swung her arm up. The mouse went flying and landed in front of Harley who trapped it with her hands and quickly jumped away when it squirmed. They chased it around a bit both of them squealing with delight and finally Natalie caught it. She held it up at her chest level and was looking at it. It was of course scared so it nibbled her finger and she threw it. Harley then goes after it and picks it up and then the poor mouse got thrown again when it bit her. It was quite a show for all those around to watch. I am quite impressed that they even tried to catch it, much less caught it. They finished the evening hopping around like bunnies with little bunny ears, noses, and tails on. They also re-named the horses and chased the dogs again before I drug them away. When we finally got them home they were out cold and were both carried in. We woke Natalie up to take her inhaler, she did it, rinsed her mouth and went straight to sleep as soon as her head hit the pillow.
